Penny Dreadful, my favorite series

 Penny Dreadful, my favorite series

I like the series because it delivers a different look at all the stories of ancient creatures or monsters, such as dracula, demons, the frankestein monster or werewolves, even the portrait of Dorian Gray is included, it mixes all the stories in the same universe saturated with perversion, blood, occultism and a darker world than expected.

the story takes place in london, england in the victorian era (i love many of the costumes that appear there) follows the life of miss Vanessa Ives, a medium and clairvoyant with a strong connection with the spiritual world, magic and the dark world, during the story she meets the characters of the horror novels already mentioned before, and as time goes by many strange things happen around her, all this because a kind of prophecy in which she appears must be fulfilled.

the actress who plays Vanessa Ives, is one of my favorite actresses, Eva Green, she has also appeared in other series and movies playing similar roles, she appears in the movie 300 playing Artemis, in Dark Shadows, playing Angelique Bouchard, being the main antagonist and in Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, playing the great Miss Peregrine.

The series was written by John Logan and produced by Pippa Harris, in 2014 won the ¨Television Critics' Choice Award for Most Exciting New Series¨ and in 2015 won the awards: ¨Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Series, Miniseries or TV Movie¨ for Helen McCrory, ¨British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Make up and Hair Design¨, British Academy Television Award for Best Original Television Music¨, Satellite Award for Best Genre Television Series¨ and ¨British Academy Television Craft Award for Best Production Design¨.

the episode that I like the most is the first one, because from the first moment I was hooked, the first episode sets the tone for everything that will come in the series, making the viewer want to continue or desist from watching it, showing the brutality of a murder in the first scenes and in the last scenes of the chapter, being the first test to continue watching this series, shows a scene where in the most hidden part of a city, between alleys and sheds appear creatures and mutilated bodies, all wrapped in blood, being one of the most shocking scenes, but not the only one in the series.

Your father loves you very much and would do anything to save you. But he loves you in a different way. I love you enough to kill you¨, this phrase is said by Vanessa Ives and is one of the many that I like about this character, is dark, direct, has a perverse sense, but also gives glimpses of compassion around who says it and why he says it. There are things inside us that can never be untied", another phrase of the same character, that I like for the warning that these words bring about who we can really be.

I love this series so much
